Corrupted us

The days of just being

religious are gone,

the days of declaring

Qur’an as the word of God.

What is the point of wearing

a hijab if your curves can be seen?

What is the point of knowing Arabic

if the meaning doesn’t move you?

You succeeded to see your friends’ faults

and didn’t even realise what you have been upto?

By education, you became a scholar,

You’re not even a student of your own self

You go in sacred places to find peace,

Never even thought of going into your own self

Everyday you fight great battles against elements,

Never even thought of battling your own self

You tried to reach for the stars while there

was wisdom before your door, you couldn’t grab.

Your body supplicates but your heart doesn’t,

why supplicate?

Your beads turn but your heart doesn’t,

what is the point of that?

You went for pilgrimage but you didn’t evolve,

why did you even go?

You covered your head but had corrupted intentions,

why put yourself through such trouble?

Even animals have better morals than you, where

have you put yourself in this evolution?

O creation of the highest order, your throne

is high above, why do you seek it on earth?

Why do you look for shadows when

you can stare directly at the sun?

I’ve declared war against my nafs

and Masnavi is my sword

An important update

Control

I’m a control freak. I like to have control over things that I care about. My readership is one thing I care about and hence I like to have full control over the experience my readers have when reading and/or engaging with my posts or just hanging about on my site. So, for this reason I decided to switch my blog from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. Basically it means I have self-hosted my blog now and am paying for a few services.

I started this blog less than a year ago in the first quarter of  2012. The purpose of this blog was to just throw out my thoughts into the world. That’s all I wanted to do. Later I discovered that my work is being appreciated, I discovered I had a following. So I decided to take my blog to the next level.

My website is an extension of me – It just makes sense for me to have full control over your experience.

My New Blog

So now my new blog is located at http://zainullabiddin.com/ I will post some of my articles and poems here but by March 2013 I will no longer post on this blog. Everything will be on my new site.

There is a slight problem. The followers of my wordpress.com blog will not receive updates from my new blog unless they sign up. So Guys drop your email address in the box on the side bar on my new site.

And Yeah Welcome!

Jobs’ philosophy on SEO

photo (2)

I had listened to Steve Jobs’ biography as an audio book on my iPhone. But I knew the effect one has by reading, so I bought the book.

I bought it for two reasons: one, so I could make notes on the ideas of the artist Jobs, two, as soon as I finished this audio book I felt the urge to tell the world about the ideas of what it means to stand at the intersection of art and science, so I want to dedicate a number of blog posts to writing about this book. This post is the first in the series of blog posts unravelling Steve Jobs’ biography the way I understand it. Continue reading

Poetry’s different interface

Image from Jami's Rose Garden. This 16 th cent...

Poetry is a wonderful thing. You may have studied poetry in school only to pass your exams. At that time you probably had hard time understanding what a poet was trying to say. It was probably something you’d never want to do in your years to come. But let me present to you a different interface of poetry. Continue reading

Simplicity in the Physical Laws

folder

Whenever we hear the word Physics or Maths, we get the feeling of our physics teacher writing weird equations on the board and telling us to memorise them. We get the gut feeling that ohh this subject is only for the most clever of us. We have such a wrong perception of a subject that is so beautiful in what it has to offer. It’s like we totally missed a whole iceberg let alone stand on it. Continue reading

Dusan's User Interface challenge

Dusan’s User Interface challenge (Photo credit: moggs oceanlane)

It’s amazing how amateurs can make videos and upload them to YouTube, send the link to all social networking sites and bamp! they are on the internet, their videos liked and shared by millions and by now billions. However same is not true for the artists who cast their musings in programming languages. I’m talking about those coders who, to get as famous as their YouTube counterparts, need to work much harder. It is true that Top YouTube video makers (The ones with the most subscribers) work as a team to produce great content every week. However even teams of coders do not succeed in the same way as YouTube volgers do or like us Bloggers do. Continue reading

Why did God create anything? Why & What is worship?

I remember when I was 7 I once asked the question: why did God create anything? I didn’t get a satisfying answer back then. After a decade later someone else asked me this same question. This time I found a beautiful answer. Continue reading
